The United States of America

To properly evaluate what is transpiring both within the US on the Domestic Political front and in terms of the position of the US in the Theatre of International politics there are several astrological charts that need examination and time analysis.

First we must address the question of the 'correct' US national chart. While I personally favour Sibly - not for its recent spate of popularity, due in part to its Pluto transits of the Asc Concurrent with the Nov 2000 election of G W Bush and the Sept 11 2001 WTC attack - but because it describes the nation well in terms of how it orients and presents itself on the world stage.

Domestically a different chart serves better, and that is POTUS - both the original chart of Washington's Inauguration (in order to track the evolution of government in the US) and also the successive charts of the various Presidents of the US (as stand alones describing their individual administrations).

Washington's Inauguration set the stage from the beginning for the dynamic interplay between States Rights and National Rights that is still evolving - some might say devolving - today.

There are, additionally, certain planetary cycles that are deeply embedded in the National drama. First among these is that of Uranus - as dispositor, alongside Saturn, of the National Aquarian Moon and having been discovered shortly after the the American Revolution. It's return to its place of discovery has been during times of great challenge and change for the nation - first during the Civil War and then shortly after the closing of the second World War and the dramatic conclusion of the campaign in the Pacific with the only use of Nuclear Weapons in a theatre of war the world has ever seen.

As joint dispositors of the Nation's Moon the Uranus / Saturn dyad speaks clearly to the split deep within the collective psyche of the people of America. They are collectively both Inventive, Eccentric, Immoderate, and Radical while at the same time being deeply conservative, oriented toward the stern father and its patriarchal symbolism of rigid adherence to strict moral codes and narrow beliefs with a deep Xenophobic distrust of the stranger.

Given that I use Sibly I always pay close attention to any emphasis on Sag beyond the rest of the hard aspects to the Sibly ASC .

The 8th can be problematic to read but I believe it is quite clear here as by July 9 2001 Sec Prog Moon had reached exact with r Chiron but t Chiron at this time was retrograde - by Sept 11 t Chiron was direct and in hard 16H aspect to POTUS 01 Nodes (orb 1') - death and destruction to the people due to hidden activities related to the accumulation of great wealth (everyone seems to have forgotten that there was a large profit taken on the markets in that week in September by persons who had shorted American Airlines - and there has, as yet, been no public investigation).

Chiron in general is a difficult read in this placement as it has a natural affinity for Sag (as do all the Centaurs) and thus it can manifest most easily (and thus most unconsciously) here.   Unconscious manifestations tend to be heavy on the shadow side of planetary behaviour/meaning and so I view it as a statement of a liability.  

Briefly Chiron is the presentation of the Centaur who displays the greatest emergence from the animal/instinctual into the human and thus is presented as a teacher/healer (sorry Dark*Star).   His wounding comes as a result of drunken, and thus unconscious, behaviour in which the lower functions hold sway over the more conscious, but impaired faculties.

Given that GWB is a dry drunk surrounded by a world of greed and committed to priviledge, pandering to the haves and the have mores of the world, then the picture of the planets in the 8th is that of the people incarcerated/trapped between these two forces - the unconscious and violence prone dry drunk and the wealthy and greedy.

By the time we reach POTUS 05 Chiron has made it to the Pluto degree of Sibly (restating the theme of POTUS 01) and is in the 10th conjunct the Sun.   Thus what was hidden during the first term is now public (even though Neptune is applying to the world axis in the 10th - that just tells me that everything that comes out of the office of the President is fabrication/propaganda with no shred of truth to it).

Additionally AS/MC = MA (not known for subtlety or intelligence but highly combative and belligerent - think John Bolton on a bad day) and SU/MO = AD - the stone wall.

And Mars has joined Pluto in Sag in the 8th where it is known for being reckless and defiant.   Saturn (45-Moon) applies to the IC so there will be an increase in poverty (specifically people will lose their homes) even though there is also an increase in collective wealth (Pluto in 8).

On the dials CH = MA/UR (direct) = NODE = MO/MA etc

Central to the story of Chiron is the element of self-undoing and here it is depicted as Fated (node) and erratically energetic and violence prone (explosive) and generative of resistance and belligerent opposition in the people (MO/MA).   There is of course a lot more as CH = SU/SA thus a tightwad - and we have certainly seen that in the consistent behaviour of this administration's relationship to the general populace as well as its failure to actually pony up the cash it promises to relief efforts world wide.   It's one thing to promise quite another to deliver - one of the major liabilities of Sag and thus we end up back at POTUS 01 with Chiron in Sag - promising much but not delivering on the promise at all.
